Pollution Prevention

& Small Business Environmental Assistance Programs

Pollution Prevention (P2) is any practice that reduces, eliminates or prevents pollution at its source. P2, also known as "source reduction," is the ounce-of-prevention approach to waste management. Reducing the amount of pollution produced means less waste to control, treat or dispose of.

The P2 Program assists businesses and government entities throughout the State of Wyoming by providing on-site technical assistance audits to specified sectors of industry. These techinical assistance audits provide the necessary documents to apply for potential funding through other sources for implementation.

Currently, the P2 program is providing technical assistance audits to meat processing and packing facilities, as well as slaughterhouses and small businesses that request technical assistance to reduce their environmental impacts on a voluntary basis.

Audits performed under current funding are provided at no cost. These audits are performed by Wyoming contractors that specialize in the environmental and energy engineering fields.
